Raisin
Raisin has a video. Click
Here.
 Birth
date approx. May 29, 2008, was orphaned at 2 weeks old when dogs killed
his mom and siblings.
Since he was bottle fed, Raisin is super affectionate, loves attention,
adores people and purrs often to show his contentment.
He is friendly towards dogs, loves playing with them and will even purr
for them. Raisin has a best friend, Miss Bridget,
who he comforted during her 4 week recovery from a broken leg.
Please, consider adopting us together? |

Parker
I’m Parker. I was rescued from a hoarder along with my buddies Big Jake,
Tiger, Josie, and Raspy. We were all in pretty bad shape but we are
better now and here is some great news: we are all healthy, vaccinated,
sterilized, and FIV/Feline Leukemia negative now! I am an unusual
looking buff-colored medium hair guy who is very frisky. I love sliding
along the floors at CAAWS while chasing toys around. When you see me at
adoption day, try to understand that I am very scared and I am much more
outgoing when I am in a place where I feel safe. Please give me a
chance; I am ready to have my own safe home with a loving family to
spend the rest of my life with.

Jake
All of the volunteers love Jake.
A true 5 Star Cat! I’m Big Jake – but don’t let
my size fool you, I’m just a big sweetie.
I lost my eye due to disease and I am MUCH
happier now that I am no longer in pain.
I was rescued from a hoarder along with my
buddies Raspy, Tiger, Josie, and Parker. We were all in pretty
bad shape but we are better now. And here is some great news, we
are all vaccinated, sterilized, and FIV/Feline Leukemia
negative!
I am a laid back fellow who loves to perch on
high things to have a snooze; also I get along with all the
other cats at CAAWS.

Unfortunately, I am really nervous when I go
to adoption day, so please give me a chance and I promise that
you will get a big old love muffin once we get home! |

Raspy & ParkerMy name is Raspy and
once you hear me meow, you will know why they named me Raspy! I was
rescued from a hoarder along with my buddies Big Jake, Tiger, Josie, and
Parker. We were all in pretty bad shape but we are better now and here
is some great news, we are all vaccinated, sterilized, and FIV/Feline
Leukemia negative! I am an active gal with one blue eye and one green
eye that loves to play and romp. Toy, toy, who’s got the toy! I have a
hard time adjusting to new situations, so I will need a very patient
family to welcome me into their home. However, once I feel safe and
comfy, you will be rewarded with a sweet little kitty who will entertain
you for hours. |

 Tiger
Tiger is the brother of Jake, Parker, and Raspy.
They were all rescued from a situation where they were being bred and
not being cared for properly.
He is now neutered and has filled out nicely. Tiger's former owner
stated he was born in November of 2001 and that he is an Angora mix.
He has a beautiful soft, coat and green eyes.
Tiger is the QUIETEST cat that his foster mom has ever come across. If
you want a cat that doesn't meow a lot, Tiger is your man.
Tiger is a bit older than his brothers and sister and he hasn't adjusted
as quickly to his new situation. He is very sweet and enjoys being
petted, but he is still rather shy around a lot of people and loud
noises.
Catnip is his favorite treat and he will do almost anything for it, even
finding the bag and ripping it open by himself.
We are hoping to find Tiger a quiet home (permanent or foster), where he
can adjust and come out at his own pace. He tolerates other cats quite
well, but would probably be frightened by dogs. |

Daisy Hi, My name is Daisy. I came from an unwanted home along with my 2 babies. Sonny found a forever home, but my daughter Cher and I are still waiting. I am pretty laid back, healthy as you can tell, FIV/FeLV negative, up to date on shots and well, why don't you just come and visit me at PetSmart on Saturdays. Every once in a while I will be at LUV-A-PET during the week just waiting for someone to want me. |

Raphael (aka: Shilo) Well, you know my bunkhouse buddies, so let us just get down to business. My name Shilo. Yes, I do have eyes, two to be exact. The camera for some reason just will not capture them in these small pictures. Click on my headshot and see for yourself. TOLD YOU! I was born in March 2007, already neutered, up to date on my shots, FIV/FeLV
negative and litter box trained. I guess you can say during the
day time we all like to lay around. We do have a lot of energy.
|
 |
Just saving it for that family that thinks we are the perfect, quiet
kitty...and then we will really turn on our charm, show our energy
level. Especially if you have some of those sticks with feathers
on the end of them. WHOO HOOO. I can play for hours tossing and turning in the air chasing that feather. Well, maybe not hours. I do get tired every once in a while. I am at Petsmart every Saturday, so come on down and see for yourself that I DO have eyes or at least get a better view of them. My bunkhouse buddies and I would love to see you there.

Harry Potter Harry Potter is a special kitty looking for a special home.
I named him for a little wizard you may have heard of… he was 5 weeks old
and starving when I found him in a refinery. I didn’t think he would make
it but he did – so he is the Cat Who Lived.
|
 |
Despite being raised with other cats, Harry really needs to be an Only Cat.
He just can’t seem to get along with the other kitties.
Harry is pretty independent and doesn’t mind telling you what he wants.
When he wants love, he’ll rub against your legs and cry to be held. When he
wants you to leave him alone, he doesn’t mind swatting the hand that feeds
him. Most Cat People understand this – you are here to please him, not the
other way around!
He can be very loving, and he’s a hoot to watch when he gets his paws on
anything that will pass for a toy. Rolls of paper towels and toilet paper
were meant to be shredded, right? So far he’s had very good manners with
his claws and is only slightly more wiggly than my other cats when getting
them trimmed.
Harry would love a home where he’s the King. He would probably be best with
older or even no children. I know he sounds like a diva, but I also know
there is a special person out there waiting to be HIS person. Harry will
know when he finds you and he will enchant you with his charm and fun-loving
nature. To learn more about me or schedule a visit, email:

Joey See Joey's video at

Let
me tell you a little about myself so you will know what you will
get when you adopt me. I am a really great guy but got off to a rough
start when I came to CAAWS. I have since been diagnosed as having an
allergic reaction to food. Yes, FOOD! My special diet cannot include
chicken or fowl and I take special steroids while I’m at my temporary
home with the other kitties so I don't get sick if I eat a piece of
their food. |
 |
Before
we found this out, my eyes would swell shut and it looked like all the other
kitties had ganged up on my face. I took medicine and even started to take
shots to see if that would help. A CAAWS volunteer had a problem with her cat
with similar symptoms and after some tests, we found out that certain cat foods
will do this to me. But now that my face has cleared up, I’m full of life,
and when that special family sees my happy face, that are going to swoop in and
take me a away. Are you them?

Chance
See Chance's video here

Hi, My name is Chance and that is what I am looking for, a second Chance. I was adopted as a kitten and returned after 3 years because my parents did not want to spend $25 for antibiotics. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am not a lap kitty, but I am a lovely window ornament. I love looking at the birds and squirrels and chatting at them. |
 |
I do not really like other kitties
or doggies and I am not sure that I will be good with children.
But if you want a pal to watch TV with and play computer with, well I am
your guy! I am de-clawed so I must be an inside kitty. I am FIV/FeLeuk
negative, up to date on my shots and neutered. I am looking for a special home that will give me a Chance! If you want to be that person, or want to learn more about me, or schedule a visit, email
caawsmail@yahoo.com

Mariah Like so many others I too have Hurricane Katrina to thank for bringing me to Baton Rouge. I spent several stressful days at the LSU emergency shelter where I lost my litter of kittens due to sickness and stress. If that weren't bad enough, I then found out that I am FIV positive. Like humans with HIV, cats with FIV can live many healthy years. So far I am totally symptom-free.
|
 |
Because
I am contagious to other cats, however, I will have to be isolated from
other cats for the rest of my life. But that's enough bad news. Let's
talk about the good news: I am young, healthy, up-to-date on vaccines,
spayed, and friendly. I have not slowed down for a second to complain. I
love playing and chatting with people so much that I don't miss other
cats one bit. The best news, though, is that you are still reading my
profile and considering taking me home -- and that's about the only news
that will turn this year around for me. To learn more about me or schedule a visit, email:

Lily
Watch Lily's Video here
Did you know that the white lily used to be a European symbol for royalty? My great-great-great-great grandmother was actually the beloved companion of one Napoleon Bonaparte. That makes me royalty. I graciously came to America as a diplomat to the government and have decided to extend my stay. I am seeking citizenship in a good home where I will be treated like the princess that I am. I am a declawed adult, already spayed, vaccinated, and FIV/FeLV negative.

Alternatives to Declawing:
- Put a scratch post by your favorite piece of furniture.
- Use "Soft Paws". These are like press-on nails that cover the claws. They need to be replaced every 2 months or so.
- Declawing can spawn behavioral problems such as not using the litter box. The litter can be rough on the cat's sore paws and cause it to shy away from using the litter box.
Safety Tips to Cat-Proof Your House
- Keep washer and dryer lids closed.
- Keep toilet lids closed.
- Keep yarn, string, and ribbons out of reach of cat.
- Needles and threads should be stored away.
- Mini-blind strings can be very dangerous to a cat. Keep them out of reach.
|
Why It Is Not A Good Idea to Have An "Outside" Cat
- Cars!!!!!
- Dogs and other predators.
- Antifreeze is deadly to cats and can be found in garages and carports. Your neighbor may not have pets and not worry about keeping harmful substances out of reach.
- Animal Control recovers, and euthanizes, nearly 6,000 cats each year. Many appear to be displaced house pets.
- An outside cat is more at risk to exposure of FIV and Feline Leukemia.
Adjusting to A New Home
- For the first day in a new home you should keep your cat in a room alone with food, water, and a litter box. This allows the cat a slow introduction to it's new home.
